Welcome to this new blog post! In this blog post you will learn about some sights in the Innlandet region in Norway.
A one-day trip
Norway is one of those countries where you can take countless road trips. But you can also see a lot in a short one-day trip. The journey starts in Lillehammer, continues a little further north into the mountains, and ends back in Lillehammer in the evening. In total, you will spend more than half a day driving, but it’s worth it!

The Innlandet region
This region of Norway has some of the most stable weather. In summer, temperatures are pleasantly warm and rainfall is relatively low. The landscapes are spectacular, with countless waterfalls, mountains, rivers and valleys inviting you to go hiking and exploring.
Rondane National Park
North of Lillehammer you can find the large Rondane National Park. The entrance fee to the waterfall is five euros, but you can stay in the hiking area as long as you like. Several hiking trails crisscross the landscape.

Storulfossen
The Storulfossen waterfall is less than a half-hour walk from the parking lot. A small side path leads to the base of the waterfall. From the top, however, you have a spectacular view, with the mountains in the background at the end of the valley. There is also a long rocky canyon leading away from the falls. It is an absolutely stunning sight and should not be missed. The waterfall is just under two hours drive from Lillehammer.

Photo spot
On the way to the waterfall, a few kilometers before the destination, you pass a photo spot near the village of Otta, along the road that winds up the mountain. From there, you have a wonderful view over the valley.

Road 27
On the way to the next stop, you drive along road 27 from Frya towards Enden. Between these two villages, you drive through another part of Rondane National Park. Rolling hills, valleys, small lakes, and mountains spread out to the left and right of the road. There are hardly any trees, so you have a wide view. Along the road, you will find several parking areas and picnic tables, inviting you to take a break with stunning views.

Sohlbergplassen
Finally, you arrive at another viewpoint: Sohlbergplassen. The viewing platform is made of wood and nestles between the trees. At the end of the platform, you can see several mountain peaks. A Norwegian artist was so fascinated by the view that he captured it in a painting. It hangs in the National Gallery in the capital, Oslo. A picture of the painting and a description of it are also signposted at this viewpoint.

Storelgen
Just over an hour’s drive from Sohlbergplassen you will find the world’s largest silver moose: Storelgen, also called The Big Silver Moose. It is even illuminated in the evening. The sculpture is located right next to the road and, with its impressive size, is impossible to miss. It is located next to a picnic area with parking lots.
Three roads lead from the Silver Moose to Lillehammer, one of which is sometimes closed. Each way is about an two-hours drive.
