Welcome to this new blog post! Join me in this blog post on a short, spontaneous five-day trip to Croatia. Our route takes us to Podstrana – just outside the gates of the metropolis of Split.

Relaxation trip

On this trip in 2020, the main goal was relaxation. And Croatia is a suitable destination for that. There are some beautiful sights, as well as mostly good weather and some nice beaches with clear water.

Split’s surroundings

The city is located in a beautiful natural setting with a mountain range in the back garden. The warm temperatures and good weather in summer attract many tourists from various countries.

Podstrana

Podstrana is a small coastal town south of Split. You can find there a wide selection of hotels and restaurants due to the large number of visitors. „Vila Nani“ is a clean, cozy accommodation located very close to the beach. The grocery store and restaurants are also within easy walking distance.

There are some beautiful small beaches, but most of them are rocky. However, this problem can simply be solved by buying swimming shoes. The water is otherwise clear and perfect for diving.

You can also take a pleasant stroll along the coastline. A great way to end the day is with a picnic on the beach at sunset, enjoying the relaxed atmosphere as the sun sets behind the mountains.

Hike to a viewpoint

From the accommodation „Vila Nani“, you can follow the road „Put Vučipolja“, which winds its way up the mountain, to a great viewpoint. The path is quite steep in some places, so wear sturdy hiking boots and bring plenty of water, especially in warm weather.

The point offers a wide view over many parts of the city from above, and you can easily spot the Croatian island of Brač on the horizon. By the way, if you want to get to the island, you can simply take a direct ferry from Split to Supetar – the only larger city on the island.

Restaurants

Croatia has a surprising number of good restaurants with excellent cuisine. The same is true in Split, Podstrana, and the surrounding area.

The seaside restaurant „Pasion Amigos“ in Podstrana is highly recommended. The food is delicious. Numerous options dining options are along the beaches, but you should also keep your eyes open towards the mountains – the restaurants located there offer fantastic views.

„Konoba Argola“ is not far from Podstrana – but the road to that place is winding and narrow. Furthermore, the restaurant often does not have enough tables or staff. Therefore, it is more advisable to try the restaurant „Konoba Carevi Dvori“. The service was extremely friendly, the food excellent, and the view stunning.
